Often under-estimated, a press release can catapult a company's SEO and really help overall Google and major search engine rankings.

For what's often a few hundred bucks in expense, the results often pay out ten, one hundred or one thousand-fold. After all, how can you spend so little and get so much back in return. Exposure, potential coverage in the medai and search engine visibility? A no-brainer indeed.

I liked the article below - which is true in that companies should not just pepper their press releases with keywords but make sure the content is aligned with their objective of selling more product or services. Ultimately, you might get a bit more search visibility, but you'll lose any potential for what press releases were originally intended...actual media coverage and visibility by editors.
