Cable Bills Up, Up and AWAY!
I don't know why I do it...
I originally signed up for a $99 "Triple" package to service my home phone, internet and cable needs. The bill has yet to be less than $180 for months - and growing! Why do I keep on paying it?
I read an article today that Cable will continue to go up. Why? Because advertisers are advertising less - so someone's got to keep the networks in business. Why is this MY problem? Main reason 2 - because competition from satellite, the web, etc. is upsetting the marketplace. In my experience, competition drives prices down - not UP!!!
So what to do? Ban Cable TV all together? My family would drive me nuts? Hope that Internet connectivity gets to the main TV quickly so all TV will be free? After all, I don't have the time to tune-in for most shows - so I end up watching 50% of my TV online anyway. This 50% is about 1 hour a week - the other hour I sit down on the couch like everyone else.
$180 seems like a lot of money - monthly - to watch a few hours of cable just so I'm "connected". I can see this going in the wrong direction for Cable - and I don't see the picture being pretty for them. Sure - they can demand their prices now - with their somewhat captive audience. Enjoy it - it's only going to be a short-while before all TV's are streaming free programming and the viewers of the world are tuning in for FREE.
Why cable is going to cost you even more.
